Hey everyone! It's halfway through 2015 and we have already had a crazy amount of good films come out this year. So many that I decided to compile a list of my top ten new movies of 2015 so far. I have seen every movie I want to so far this year and have reviewed just about all of them. I won't go into too much detail about each movie here, instead I'll include a trailer and a link to my review of it. If you haven't seen any of these movies I would highly recommend them all, 2015 has been one impressive year of movies so far and we are only halfway through. Anyways, below are my top ten movies released in 2015 so far, look for a full top twenty come the close of the year.
1. Mad Max Fury Road
Here is my full review of Mad Max Fury Road
I'm sure, if you haven't seen this movie yet, you have heard just about every movie geek around rant and rave about it. That's because this movie is on a level we haven't seen in a long time. It is a two hour, heart pounding, action packed, car chase that will leave you dazzled. SEE THIS MOVIE, it is not only my favorite of the year but one of my favorites of the 21st century.

2. Ex Machina

I may have only just watched this film last night, but it is that good. It is one of the most original and emotional science-fiction movies I have seen in a while. I was so impressed by one viewing of this movie that it not only makes my top ten but it is my second favorite of the year.
3. Dope
Here is my full review for Dope
This was my pleasant surprise of the first half of 2015. I knew this movie would interest me from the first trailer I saw but I still knew it could easily fail to land. Thankfully this movie did not at all disappoint. It is a fantastic look into the modern youth and the societal standards that plague them. It has an incredible message and is legitimately funny and also features the best compilation soundtrack of the year so far.
4. Inside Out
Here is my full review of Inside Out
My top ten wouldn't be compete with at least one animated film and thankfully, it is Pixar's newest. We all know Pixar hasn't been on their A game since Toy Story 3 so all eyes were on them with this new one. Well, not only is this a return to form for Pixar but it stands as one of the best complete films of the year so far and is an obvious candidate for animated film of the year.
5. Kingsman: The Secret Service
Here is my full review for Kingsman: The Secret Service
Back in February movie goers were given a little treat. Kingsman is the newest movie from Matthew Vaughn and most recent adaptation of a Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) comic. The film plays as a beautiful spoof of classic spy films while still honoring their legacy. Vaughn lends his style of brutal action to elevate this film to something different. It's like Austin Powers and The Bourne movies had an R rated love child.
Do you want to watch a horror film that will make you scared of your peers, your surroundings? Then check out It Follows immediately. The new American horror film from David Robert Mitchell is a beautiful display of body and paranormal horror that will leave you feeling quite uncomfortable. Not to mention the original score from Disasterpeace is absolutely incredible and a character of the film itself. All genre fans need to see this film.
7. Jurassic World
Here is my full review of Jurassic World
Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite movie of all-time is Jurassic Park. So inevitably the new sequel would be one of my most anticipated of the year. The film did not disappoint and was a two hour spectacle. It may have lacked a bit in character development and attention to detail but all that is forgotten in the final twenty minutes.

8. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Here is my full review of Avengers: Age of Ultron
The long awaited sequel to Joss Whedon's The Avengers hit theaters this year. While it wasn't quite the same level of awesome as its predecessor it was still a wonderful time at the movies. It has a few bumps in the road but in the end it does what it has too. It brings together all of our favorite heroes while introducing a few new ones. Its an action spectacle that leaves some of the story to the side, and that is fine.
9. We Are Still Here
Here is my full review for We Are Still Here
It has been a good year for horror, despite what some may tell you. Along with It Follows, We Are Still Here is a wonderful new indie horror flick. It is a horror flick that feels like a throwback to classic 70's and 80's haunted house movies while still feeling completely new and fresh. It is beautifully shot and scored and the carnage is beautiful. All horror fans should seek out this movie and watch it asap.
10. Spy
Here is my full review for Spy
Last but not least is a movie that completely surprised me this year, Paul Feig's Spy. Even from the preview above, this movie does not look like anything that original or funny. Good thing it's not the movie because this little comedy is side splittingly hilarious. Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Jude Law are all on their A game here, don't sleep on this one guys it is worth the price of admission.
So there you have it, my personal top ten for the year so far. As always, thanks for reading and I am Zach Who Watches Movies. You can find me anytime on twitter @ZachWWMovies, smell ya later!
