Jurassic World's Impact on the Future

Hey everyone! Zach Who Watches Movies here and, well, holy crap you guys. Jurassic World finally came out this past weekend and while movie pundits were giving it a generous outlook at around $125-130 million no one could have predicted what would have happened. As of Monday morning Jurassic World has broken the all time record for opening box office both domestically and worldwide. The film dethroned 2012's mega hit The Avenger's, which brought in just over $207 million domestic, with just over $208 million in US box office. Even more than that, as of writing this Wednesday afternoon it has also put up two almost $25 million weekdays to add on another $50 million to the US total.

Wow, this is insane you guys. The movie just keeps making money. I heard people say they dont think this movie will have legs since EVERYONE saw it this weekend but after seeing the Monday and Tuesday numbers that's hard to believe. This thing has a legitamate chance at another $100 million this weekend with Pixar's Inside Out as its only real competition.

What does this all mean for blockbuster Hollywood? I believe nothing but good things. Thanks to the incredible success of first The Avenger's and now Jurassic World studios are seeing the true value of big budget movies. These things just purely need to entertain us. Yeah, there will always be nit pickers but what most movie goers want is to feel they have gotten their moneys worth. What the success of a movie like this tells us is that people love big, spectacular, goofy fun. This is the best possible news in a world full of super hero movies and sci-fi blockbusters.

If the big studios can now see this then that will allow for a whole lot more movies like this. Colin Trevorrow has said he got an incredible amount of creative freedom and that the final cut in theaters is his directors cut. This is so awesome, if more studios are willing to let these incredibly talented film makers really be creative and try to make something new then we are in for a treat.

Colin Trevorrow has said he does not want to direct the next movie in the franchise but will stay involved in some way. I thinks this is great, he said he thinks the franchise has its best shot when giving new directors the opportunity to create their vision instead of the same thing repeated. Anytime a big, awesome movie like this has great success I couldnt be happier. The fact its a Jurassic Park movie just makes it that much better for me personally.

What do you think? Did you like Jurassic World? Do you want more giant goofy movies like this? Leave your thoughts in the comments below or hit me up on twitter @ZachWWMovies. As always, thanks for reading and I am Zach Who Watches Movies. Smell ya later!
